UK launch of the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Foundation by Maestro Kurt Masur
The internationally renowned
conductor Kurt Masur launched the International Felix Mendelssohn Foundation in the United Kingdom before a large gathering of specially invited guests
at the Residence of the German Embassy on 28 September 2005 hosted by Ambassador Thomas Matussek.
The Foundation seeks to support and assist young musicians around the world. Congratulating Maestro Masur on his great services to music, the Ambassador expressed his conviction
that the Foundation would make a vital contribution to encouraging and fostering outstanding classical musicians in the future. A short film on Mendelssohn's life and work was
shown, followed by a performance by the Trio Belle Epoque of four works by the great 19th century composer.
